Wednesday, March 9th, will mark the grand reopening of the Edwardsville, Illinois Glik’s, located at 124 S. Buchanan St. in Park Plaza. The store has been recently expanded to more than double the original floor space. With the expansion, the Edwardsville location has been able to increase their merchandise selection and allow more room for best selling brands.
The Edwardsville and Glen Carbon communities have been more than kind to Glik’s in the 50+ years it has been a home to one of the company’s most successful stores. The area has continued to thrive and grow, as proven by the recently awarded ranking of #1 Best City in Illinois for Young Families by NerdWallet, a website focused on empowering consumers to make informed decisions regarding personal finances, travel plans, and higher education.
Jeff Glik, Glik’s president and CEO, always says, “Great towns need great stores.” This is why the expansion of the store now allows Glik’s to offer a wide assortment of kid’s boutique brands that can’t be found anywhere else in the area. The selection of children’s clothing includes brands like Mud Pie, Tea Collection, Mae Li Rose, Mimi & Maggie, Mayoral, Giggle Moon and Glik’s private label 1897 Boys. The store now carries sizes for girl’s 7-16 as well with brands including popular preppy t-shirts from Simply Southern Collection, as well as fashion brands Hayden and Tea N Rose. The newly added kid’s department also includes boy’s sizes 8-20 and boasts a selection of popular brands including Under Armour, Billabong, Quiksilver, Hurley and Stance Socks.
Another exciting addition to the store is an Alex and Ani “Shop in Shop.” This concept has allowed a dedicated space within the Glik’s store to be solely dedicated to showcasing Alex and Ani merchandise. This is the first Shop Within a Shop for the brand in the Metro St. Louis area and allows the store to carry a wide assortment of bracelets, necklaces, and rings from the well-known East Coast jewelry vendor.
The premium outdoor brand, Yeti, has also been added to the Edwardsville sales floor. Customers can now shop for Yeti soft-sided coolers, vacuum-insulated stainless-steel drinkware, apparel and other related accessories from the brand.
The grand reopening kicks off with a ribbon cutting at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, March 9th. The ribbon, made of 119 dollar bills representing the 119 years that Glik’s has been in business, will be donated to the Edwardsville and Glen Carbon Chamber of Commerce.
Customers can enter to win $100 Glik’s gift card and Glik’s will also donate 10% of the day’s sales to Joe Glik Park in Edwardsville.
