Introducing: Emily!
We hope everyone is having a great day! We wanted to give a warm welcome to the newest member of our buying team at HQ: Emily Maltman! Emily recently graduated from Central Michigan University with a degree in Fashion Merchandising. Emily is from the great city of Rockford, MI, but was extremely eager to accept an assistant buying position at our Home Office near St. Louis, MO. She has been so grateful for her entire experience so far since she has always wanted to be a buyer in fashion!
One of the things Emily loves to do most (besides scouting out the latest fashion trends) is traveling! One of her personal goals is to continuing traveling and to see as much of the world as possible. She had the amazing opportunity to travel to South Korea last summer and fell in love with the variety of foods and being able to experience the culture firsthand. Although she has already been able to check some destinations off of her passport, her dream travel spot would be to see Ireland and Scotland to see where she came from and learn more about her heritage!
Before leaving her hometown and moving south to STL, Emily had the opportunity to work in some of our Michigan stores! She mainly worked in our Rockford location, since it was close to her home, but she was able to visit most of our stores along the coast of Lake Michigan. While working as a sales associate in the stores, she was able to get hands on training and get to know more about our company before transitioning to HQ.
Not only was she able to work in a few of our stores, Emily had the amazing chance to go to the biggest tradeshow of the year, MAGIC in Las Vegas, on the second day of her job! She said it was a great starting point and loved being able to dive right into the “fun side” of work, aka getting a glimpse at what all of the fashion vendors have to offer. She’s super excited to learn more about the buying process and continue to grow in her position. Being able to see the back end of fashion retail and buying into trends before they even happen is something she is really looking forward to in her new buying position.
