Introducing: Nick!
We wanted to give a shout-out to one of our newest assistant buyers at HQ: Nicholas Sullivan! Nick recently graduated from Central Michigan University with a degree in Fashion Merchandising and a Minor in Professional Sales. Nick’s hometown is Muskegon, MI and was thrilled to accept an assistant buying position at our Home Office near St. Louis, MO.
Before graduating and accepting his current buying position, Nick actually had the opportunity to be an intern at a few of our resort stores in Michigan! He spent last summer interning at our Saugatuck and Holland Men’s stores. Although it was his first retail position, he couldn’t have been happier with how it went. He had a very detailed experience as an intern, all while getting to learn the in’s and out’s of our company. While holding his intern status, he learned certain techniques about how to merchandise the store and tending to customers’ needs. The best part- he was allowed his own freedom and self-expression as an associate and was able to be a fresh mind in such a busy store at their busiest time of the year.
Once Nick began his position as Assistant Buyer of Kids & Prep, he went on his first buying trip on his second day! Nick traveled down to the Simply Southern Showroom in Atlanta, GA which was equally overwhelming and exciting. Being able to meet vendors, see merchandise first-hand, and then writing orders all on his second day was an amazing experience. Since then, Nick has continued to get the hang of the buying process and fits right in here at HQ! He is looking forward to learning more about the fashion retail industry hands-on, especially within a family business setting that allows opportunities.
