Transitional Looks: From Summer to Fall & Beyond

Since we have officially begun the autumn season, I guess it is *officially* time to start transitioning our wardrobe from our warm, summer clothes to our cooler, fall clothes. Personally, fall fashion is my FAVORITE type of fashion and it can never come around soon enough to start wearing all things cozy.  Although the weather may not be fully cooperating with our fall styles yet, it's an awkward time of year where you need to start transitioning some of your summer clothes into the fall season.  It's also the time when we say goodbye to vibrant, warm tones and hello to muted, cool tones in our closet. Today, we are going to show you four outfits that are perfect for that awkward time of the year we speak of when you aren't quite sure what to wear!

First off, lets start with the basics.  The cardigan, basic top, and ankle bootie combo.  This is quite literally the easiest recipe for fall fashion! Choose a cute cardigan (like this one from Elan), your comfiest basic top, a pair of denim jeans, and versatile ankle boots.. done.  Bonus points if you mix and match patterns throughout your look or if you add on accessories such as a fedora or wide-brim hat or a statement belt!

Next up, an outfit that is perfect for brunch or a casual date night! An effortless and classy floral blouse is trending for the season. Florals can be a year-round statement as long as you transition into darker tones and smaller patterns for the cooler months.  The square neckline and smocked silhouette of this blouse from Everly Clothing is very flattering as well! This third outfit is great for a fall wedding, or when you want to dress up on a night out, or even can be worn to work. This suede skater dress from Fate is so great to transition to fall and winter with. It has a structured silhouette with a tie waist that easily makes you look "put-together" without the effort. To make this outfit more fun, we paired it with a pair of heeled snakeskin boots that are SO on-trend for the season.  (You'll seriously want to wear these boots again & again, oh and they also come in a pretty blush color too!) When the temperatures really start to drop, you can easily throw on a pair of tights under this dress and layer it with a chunky cardigan like our favorite go-to from Wishlist.

The last transitional look we have for you is more catered towards those cooler days and nights. Start out with a high-quality flannel top from Thread & Supply, pair it with basic denim jeans, top it off with a Patagonia Vest when it gets cold, and finish the look with a pair of slip on sneakers!
