In 2009, the way we drank water was changed when Hydro Flask entered the picture. Although it didn't become popular and "trendy" until late 2010s, the Hydro Flask is still a go-to water bottle or tumbler for some people. Seeing the success of Thermos, Hydro Flask adapted the double-wall insulation to keep hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold. Plus, they came in super fun and bright colors.
Around the same time Hydro Flask became popular, the water bottle became the statement piece for a viral stereotype called VSCO girls. The VSCO name came from a photo-editing app but the way this stereotype was described as "basic" They carried their Hydro Flask water bottles everywhere, adding stickers to them to make them look trendy. As the VSCO girl stereotype began to fade, Hydro Flask was overshadowed by other drinkware brands. But with the rise of the new Stanley Tumbler recently, Hydro Flask has created their own version to reach back out to their customers.
